Hydrotherapy Client Comments

Ralph
Ralph
What a difference your Hydrotherapy pool has made to our 14 year old black Labrador, Ralph.
His life has changed completely since he has been swimming in your pool.

We’ve seen his pronounced arthritic limp disappear and his general mobility has improved
beyond measure.

He is like a puppy on swim days and rushes out of the car into the pool room, even jumping
the threshold in his excitement to get into the water.   Even when we get home he insists on
playing ball in the garden.  He now runs when he could only walk and his gait and general
demeanour is so much better. He is happy to undertake two mile walks when a hundred
yards was a struggle previously.

Swimming in your hydrotherapy pool is now part of our weekly life and I would recommend
this to any dog owner – I even get a good work out myself each week now you have handed
his supervision to us.

Maisie
Maisie
My Labrador puppy developed a bad limp as she grew and was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)
when she was a year old. Maisie was referred to a Specialist Orthopaedic Veterinary Surgeon who operated on her
left shoulder in March 2010.  Exercise after the operation was severely restricted until her six-week check up.
Although the operation had gone well, Maisie was slow to recover normal movement and still had a slight limp.
The Specialist recommended six more weeks of restricted exercise and said that a course of hydrotherapy would
be beneficial.

Following referral from the Orthopaedic Specialist, Maisie commenced a twice weekly course of
hydrotherapy at Roundstone Kennels. The sessions were taken by Justine or Paul; Maisie was confident in
their care and thoroughly enjoyed the hydrotherapy, which allowed her to exercise without putting any weight
on her joints. Maisie's mobility improved during the course of hydrotherapy and the Specialist discharged her at
her 12-week check up. The operation and restricted exercise regime had been quite stressful for Maisie
and the hydrotherapy sessions not only benefitted her physically but also psychologically as it gave her an
outlet for her pent up energy and had a calming effect on her. The result was that I had a healthier and
happier dog and, as Maisie enjoyed the hydrotherapy sessions so much, I'm continuing to take her
regularly for fitness swims.
